Community Supports Prospera’s Youth with Back to School Donations

Prospera is grateful for the community support from all who contributed during Back to School season. Local churches, nonprofit agencies, small and large businesses, and local residents donated new school supplies to help our youth residents start the school year with fresh set of backpack and school supplies. Raul Zamora, staffer for District 6 Councilmember Melissa Cabello Havrda, noted with their recent donation, “As a former educator of over 33 years, I have realized that giving children the right supplies is psychologically essential to prepare them for success at the start of the year. In reality, however, the need exists throughout the academic year. When you have students who don’t have much, they see other students who have a bunch of new school supplies, and it makes them feel inadequate. Thus, this project is vital to all of us, as there are those who donate not just money but supplies, those who volunteer, and those who provide other resources to help ensure every student succeeds.” Prospera believes in and promotes strengthening education for our residents.  Since the school year has started, Resident Service Managers have also seen an increase in attendance to the after-school programs. Here’s to an engaging and educational new school year!
