SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (February 26, 2020) – Prospera Housing Community Services, a local affordable housing 501(c)(3), will host a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their permanent new headquarters. The event will take place on February 26, 2020 at 4:00 PM.
Construction for the new headquarters began in November 2018 and completion in December 2019. Prospera Housing Community Services new headquarters building is located in North Central San Antonio overlooking Salado Creek adjacent to Lady Bird Johnson Park. Prospera Housing Community Services was newly constructed to current building codes with modern amenities including 29,000 square foot community center, low impact development with best management practices for treatment of stormwater runoff in Bexar County.
“After 25 years of renting office space, we are thankful for our partnership with Texas Capital Bank and Galaxy Builders to make ‘home’ a reality for Prospera,” says Gil Piette, Executive Director/CEO of Prospera Housing Community Services. “This building will ultimately save money on monthly rental costs allowing us to invest in more affordable housing across South Texas. The community center space was created with non-profits in mind. We see the community center as a landing spot for the community to convene and collaborate to help the under-served population.”
The new headquarters has the following on-site modern amenities including a Community Room that has audio/visual capabilities, Zoom room capabilities, warming kitchen, tables and seating, serving bar, and fenced courtyard for special events. The San Antonio River Authority awarded Prospera the Watershed Wise Rebate for 2020 for the headquarters’ construction of a Low Impact Development with Best Management Practices for treatment of stormwater runoff in Bexar County. There is currently 1500 square footage of office rental space for a third-party tenant that will become available in mid-2020.
Prospera Housing Community Services has close to 50 affordable housing properties across South Texas (from San Antonio to Victoria to the Coastal Bend and down to Rio Grande Valley and then out to Del Rio).
