Prospera Celebrates $72.7 Million Transformation of Country Club Village
Grand Opening marks the completion of rehabilitation and new construction at the 270-home affordable housing community in San Antonio.
Prospera Housing Community Services joined residents, community leaders, and partners on July 24 to celebrate the Grand Opening of Country Club Village, marking the completion of rehabilitation and new construction at the San Antonio affordable housing community.
Located at 3500 Magic Drive, Country Club Village provides 270 affordable one-and-two-bedroom apartment homes for households earning between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income. The community currently serves 324 residents age 62 and older and/or individuals with disabilities.
The approximately $72.7 million development represents a significant investment in preserving and expanding access to quality affordable housing in San Antonio.
A Community Designed for Stability and Connection
Country Club Village features 152 one-bedroom and 118 two-bedroom apartment homes with energy-efficient appliances and modern amenities. Residents also have access to a Community Wellness Center, fitness center, swimming pool and cabana, theater and activity rooms, computer center with internet access, laundry facilities, food pantry, and on-site management and maintenance.
But the investment extends beyond the apartments themselves.
Prospera’s on-site Resident Services connects residents with programs and resources designed to address the factors that influence long-term health, well-being, and housing stability. Services include food assistance and distribution, transportation support, health and nutrition programming, financial education, eviction prevention assistance, adult education, employment readiness, and community activities.
A Resident Services Manager is also available on-site, helping residents identify needs, connect with resources, and navigate challenges that could threaten their housing stability.
Made Possible Through Partnership
The rehabilitation and new construction at Country Club Village were made possible through a combination of public, private, and nonprofit investment.
Prospera is grateful for the support of PNC Bank, National Association, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, the San Antonio Housing Trust, Capital Magnet Fund, and Versa Development, whose investments and partnership helped make the development possible.
Celebrating a Shared Accomplishment
The July 24 celebration brought together residents, partners, and community leaders to recognize the collaboration behind Country Club Village.
The program included remarks from Veronica Garcia, Director of the City of San Antonio Neighborhood & Housing Services Department; Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai; San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones; Chris Sherman, Regional President of PNC Bank; and Jacque Woodring, Executive Director & CEO of Prospera Housing Community Services. The celebration concluded with ribbon cutting, property tours, refreshments, and networking.
For Prospera, Country Club Village represents more than the completion of a development project, it reflects the organization’s continued commitment to preserving affordable housing while creating communities where residents can access the services, resources and opportunities that support greater stability and well-being.
